Sheldon has a Bachelor’s degree in business from Rice University, where he also took several design classes. After graduating, he worked in the corporate world for a short time before joining the Cannell and Chaffin furniture chain. In 1984 he realized his dream to work in the interior design profession and co-founded Harte Brownlee & Associates.

On new houses, Sheldon Harte is typically called in before construction begins to advise on building plans. On renovations, Harte Brownlee can execute detailed drawings of the interior architecture.

A four-time participant in the Philharmonic House of Design, Sheldon has also designed rooms in the Pasadena Showcase House.
Sheldon Harte has received national attention for his design talents, appearing on several HGTV episodes with Kitty Bartholomew, and his work has been published in newspapers and magazines, including Riviera Interiors. He also is invited to speak on design topics. At Westweek 2008, he gave an illustrated talk about “Making Luxury Comfortable,” underscoring the fact that in the houses he designs for clients, the living room is no longer the forbidden space.
