President’s Message

Rick Campos, Allied ASID
A Message From Our President
I am excited and honored to be elected as the chapter’s president for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. It is truly a privilege to lead such an amazing group of design industry professionals in the coming year and to collaborate with our many industry allies and supporters in what is sure to be an outstanding term.
As this new fiscal year kicks off there are some very exciting things in the works for the Orange County Chapter. A new slate of leadership is preparing to rally our membership on a path filled with opportunity, education, and a little bit of adventure. The industry is without question evolving and as one of the nations largest chapters, Orange County is realizing the change of tide in a very real way. Now is the time for innovation and revitalization. Our national leadership team has embraced that concept and so have we. As a result, you will see a more business driven and politically conscious methodology develop over the coming year. It truly has never been a better time to be a member of ASID.
This year we will continue to deliver monthly general meetings filled with networking opportunity, industry insight, and thought provoking presentations. We will continue our popular Lunch & Learn program and we will continue to build and develop our Emerging Professionals Program with regular meetings and events. Our annual tradeshow is one of our most anticipated events of the year and this year it will without a doubt be bigger and better than ever. New this year is our Designer Challenge event which is sure to become a new chapter favorite. We are developing relationships with local home Tour and Showhouse organizers to bring the opportunity to our incredibly talented design membership and the valuable Industry Partners who help make our work shine. Speaking of Industry Partners, this year we will once again dedicate an event exclusively to our chapter IPs. The IP Forum will provide an opportunity for chapter leaders to engage with our IP membership and learn how we can deliver balanced and beneficial programs to all facets of the membership. Our year end celebration and annual design awards will round out the year and further acknowledge our talented design membership.
Of course our year would not be complete without programs dedicated to our student membership. We will once again partner with Laguna Design Center to deliver an outstanding Student Career Day filled with education and inspiration. Real World Design Week and the Noah’s Arc Student Design Challenge will further promote our student members as key contributors to the Orange County chapter. We’ll wrap up our year with a special student graduation party to celebrate our student members achievements and welcome them to ranks as design practitioners.
This is just a sample of the many programs and events developed for the coming year. The best way to remain up to the minute on all things ASID OC is to visit our chapter website at www.asidocc.org and select the “calendar & events” tab. You can also “like” us on Facebook to receive regular updates on chapter / industry events and opportunities. For your own benefit and the benefit of the chapter I challenge you to engage, participate, and make a difference.
